CANON MP240 PRINTER COPIER AND SCANNER MAC OS X
Please be advised that the printer was retired in 2014 and if you are using Windows 10 or Mac OS X Yosemite v10.10 or higher, there are no drivers available for your model printer and you would not be able to set the printer for black ink only. This can be done from the printer driver. The MP240 can be set to print with black ink only. If it lasts me only the same time as the last one did, then I'd still be happy, especially if I could get another one at a similar price.I can understand your frustration and I can help. I love to get a bargain, and I think that I got one with this machine. I wanted a good "mid range" multifunctional inkjet, and all in all, I think I got what I wanted. I'm not really happy about that, as ink is expensive, but there were extra ink cartridges in the box with this one, so I shouldn't need to buy more ink for some time yet!Īnyway, I got this machine reconditioned, and it looks brand new, so all in all I'm very pleased with how it works, and the print quality, which is all important. The problem with all ink jet printers is the price of ink, and I know that this machine has a function where it cleans the heads everytime you use the machine, which uses up the ink more than it needs to. "Black marks" for that, because apart from that, print quality is excellent, and the machine is pretty quiet, so I'm happy with that. I really wish there were a way to set it up with a "quick start", but I don't think there is. Unfortunately, like my old Canon, it seems to take ages to "warm up" before it prints anything when you first turn it on. It took me a while to discover that I had to change settings on the front panel to get it to see each computer seperately, but that's probably because I have to get use to the layout of the menus and the software, and I hate looking at the manuals! I managed it eventually, and everything seems to be working fine now. The MG5250 "wi fi" feature is fairly straightforward to set up, but I had to mess around with it, to get it to see the 2 different computers. It's not as heavy as my old Canon, and has a smaller "footprint", so that is definitely a plus! I can see I'll have to be careful with the door on the front as it is pretty flimsy, but I'm careful with my stuff, and I won't be using it a lot so I can live with that. I'm not a fan of the relatively cheap black plastic they use now, and shiny black finish is not good as it can get covered in fingerprints, really easily! On first inspection, the MG5250 seems a little flimsy compared to the old one. I made sure that it would be compatible with the operating systems on both my old laptop and my new desktop machines, and I wanted the CD/DVD label function I h ad on my old Canon machine, because it's useful, even though I don't use it that much.
CANON MP240 PRINTER COPIER AND SCANNER PLUS
It wasn't used that much, but I was sad to see it go because it was the best multifunction printer I ever had (Canon MP600), when it worked it was great, although a little slow on start up, and I hate having to throw things out, but it wasn't worth having it fixed because it would have cost more to repair than buying a new printer!Īnyway I wanted a printer with all the same features, plus I thought "wi fi" was a good idea since I have a couple of computers, and then i knew I could use both with it. I had to get a new printer because my old one packed up after a good five and a half years (which I suppose it pretty good going!). Flawed, but a good "mid price" multifunctional.
